Simon Parnall has lived in Kingswood for 21 years and has served as Borough Councillor since being first elected to the old ward of Kingswood with Burgh Heath in 2012. He is married to Judy with an eighteen year old son, Matthew.
Simon, Caroline and Tim were elected to the new ward of Chipstead, Kingswood and Woodmansterne in 2019 and Simon has worked passionately on a broad range of issues, particularly on all matters relating to planning, development and enforcement. He has served on the Council’s planning committee throughout his time as councillor and has been elected chairman of the planning committee for three of the last four years.
Simon’s concern for the community led him to join and latterly to lead the Kingswood Residents’ Association as chairman before he was elected as Councillor, and he continues to take an active role in leading community events.
Simon’s professional life has been in Broadcast and Media engineering research and development, initially at the BBC where he was based at Kingswood Warren. He has had responsibility for leading worldwide technical standards in respect of many devices and services we use each day.
In his spare time Simon is a pianist and organist, he loves hill walking and photography, and he identifies Yosemite in California as his favourite place on Earth!
