Last Saturday (6th August), I was out in South Park and Woodhatch talking to residents about the Community Infrastructure Levy ("CIL"). It's a pot of money that developers have to pay into when they build in a community. You can find out more about CIL on the council's website by following this link. The main thing is that this money needs to be spent in the area that the building work happened in.
With colleagues, I spoke to many of you around the New Causeway area about what you'd like to see this money spent on. The common themes were:
- Doing something to help with verge parking
- Improving the quality of the local roads
- Making the Angel junction safer
- Providing more spaces for children to use
Many people also raised issues which need to be taken up with Raven Housing, such as over grown trees and other plants. I know these are ongoing problems so will continue to pick them up with Raven on your behalf.
I'm dropping a letter round to everyone and I would love to hear from you if you've got ideas on what to spend the community money on, so please do drop me a line at cllr.j.king@gmail.com, it'd be wonderful to discuss them with you.
All the best
James
